This year’s Torneo Clausura starts with a great game. After America beat Queretaro 2-0 this past Saturday in their first game of the tournament under the direction of Miguel Herrera. The first goal was scored by Christian Benitez at minute 69 and the second by Juan Carlos Medina at minute 92.
Herrera mentions that it is only the beginning of what he promises is going to be a great season for Las Aguilas. This win gives America 3 points on the score board, giving them confidence and the hope that this tournament bid won’t end up like Apertura 2011.
Now that they started off with a win, the campaigns have begun and the first thing on the list is a 3rd uniform. The rebranding campaign is, "Año nuevo. Esperanzas nuevas. ¡Jersey renovado!" “New year. New hopes. Renovated Jersey!” While the new uniform is yet to be decided, there is no doubt that those who wear it will do so with pride.
