Every year the Golden Ball Gala celebrates
excellence in global footballing where awards are handed out for best coach, goal of the year,
and the golden ball itself. This year Barcelona is strongly
represented in all the award categories. The FIFpro all 11 has 11 Barcelona players represented on a shortlist of 52 players from around the
world. An interesting note is that Neymar from Brazil's Santos is the only non-european
player to make the list.
Messi, Xavi,
Iniesta, Villa, Fábregas, Pique, Puyol, Abidal, Dani Alves, and Valdez are all
in contention to be in the all 11 which is quite impressive because almost all starters for Barcelona are in the shortlist.
The only player missing was Pedro, who
I strongly believe should not have made the cut because he had another impressive season last year.
The all 11, along with Balon D'or will be announced in January from Zurich at
the Golden Ball Gala.
