Breaking the Curse; Giving Fans Something to Cheer About

Great news for Americanista fans everywhere!   America defeated Pachuca this weekend with a score of 1-0.  Not only does this mean that America gets more points towards the 30 total points that El Piojo wants the team to get, but it's also the first game in over 6 months that the team won during at home!   America hasn't won a home game since the sixth game of Apertura 2011!  El Piojo held a conference before the game and spoke about the decrease in fans for the team.  One of the main problems, he said, was that the team hadn't won a home game and that was something they had to change.

The change finally arrived this weekend.   America didn't play as it usually does; there was a lack of effort by the entire team.  That left Pachuca with the most control of the ball during the first part of the game.  It seemed as if Pachuca was going to score at any moment, but America's Christian Benitez finished a great goal at minute 56.  Pachuca tried to tie the game as Jaimen Ayovi came in with a headed ball, but was stopped by Muñoz.  Pachuca had no chance as America put all their effort in their defense to keep the opposing team from scoring.

America is now at 7th place on the scoreboard, with their all-time rivals Las Chivas sitting in last place.  The next game for America is on Saturday, February 25th against Atlante.  We shall see if breaking the "curse" of not winning at a home game will help the team in the upcoming games!
