Carlos Tevez has returned to
Manchester City first team squad, training with them this past Thursday,
February 23rd. The
Argentine returned to City after more than three-months of absence. After Roberto Mancini offered Tevez a
new opportunity to come back to the club, the striker did not wait to apologize
for his actions.
Micah Richards spoke in favor of
Carlos and asked supporters to welcome his return. “The best option for Tevez is to come back and get his head
down and if we do end up winning the league and he’s played a massive part in
that then I’m sure everyone will forgive him," mentioned Richards.
"If we don't, then it could be
the opposite. It's a mixed feeling really, but for me as a player, I'm glad to
have him back because he's an outstanding player. He was our captain and
leader, not only on the ball but off the ball as well, working hard, closing
people down. He was a real nightmare to play against and to have that back in
our team would be a boost. He's got something that maybe the other strikers
don't have. Not in terms of ability but just knowing what the Premier League is
like."
David Silva gave his side of the story
and mentioned how important the former Boca Junior striker is for the team.
"Before he went away, he was a very important player for us and if he is
back, it's perfect and he will be a very, very good player to have. It's very
important to have four great strikers. It makes it easier for the people
playing behind them to play football. Such great players could be an important
factor."
Joleon Lescott also showed his
support, saying: “You need to appreciate what he has done for the club over the
last two years – just take on board what he has done. We don't need any
disruptions, and no one here sees Carlos as that. If we can all get together
and push in the same direction I'm sure it's a positive for the club. Now he is
back and involved I am sure there will be a lot more fear in opposition teams,
who will be worried about Carlos."
Roberto Mancini aspires to win two
trophies this season, one domestic (Premier League) and the other in Europe (UEFA
Europa League). According to
Manchestercity.com, when asked about the twin trophy, Mancini said: “We hope so
but it is not easy. If City wins
the last 13 Premier League games, that would do it.” Mancini said with a smile.
At the same time, Manchester United
aspires to obtain the same titles.
Theworldgame.com quoted Sir Alex Ferguson: “Ourselves and City didn’t
expect to be where were are today.
Both of us will be trying to win it and it would be a great final that.”
Legend Diego Armando Maradona, arguably
the best player who ever punched a ball into a net, has spoken about both
Sergio Agüero and Manchester City.
According to Sport360.com, “Diego Maradona believes his son-in-law,
Sergio ‘Kun’ Agüero, has finally found a stage befitting of his talents at
Manchester City. But that’s not to
say he’s happy about it.
"Agüero, 23, has been a revelation in his debut
season at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 19 goals in 34 games in all competitions
since his club-record £38m move from Atlético Madrid.
"Maradona continues to keep a close eye on his
son-in-law’s progress (Agüero is married to his daughter Giannini) from Dubai
and believes City is the right club for him to showcase his undoubted talents
to the world. 'My son-in-law has
finally found a place in the world and a team where he can fight for important
things,' he said."
Speaking about the title race, Maradona says: “My heart says Manchester City, but I
believe Mancini with all the players he’s got, is not daring enough. He is
a bit too defensive. Maybe because he is Italian.”
Perhaps Mancini wants his team’s performance to
improve, in addition to being more offensive in the pitch. A better offense may be the key for
City to win not only the Premier League title but the Europa League as well. Mancini is a professional and
understands that Carlos Tevez is capable of helping Manchester City achieve
glory once again.
Tevez is aware that he can be an asset to the team
and that this would be the perfect opportunity to earn the love back – the love
of the Manchester City fans. The
Argentine international mentioned to ESPN Deportes that he is going back to
England because it is “personal” and wants to do what he does best: score goals.
