With much at stake, both Las Aguilas and Las Chivas faced off at the Estadio
Azteca in El Super Clásico. Las Aguilas brought all they had into
this game, not only because they needed to prove that they had what it took to
beat Las Chivas, but because this game was in their home stadium.
Unfortunately, the ending result was not what the home team or the fans
were expecting.
Within 5 minutes of game play, Antonio Gallardo scored for Las Chivas. El
America didn’t waste any time getting back into the game. At minute 12, forward
player Christian Benitez scored tying the game, bringing all Americanistas to
their feet.
Unfortunately, the high hopes El America had lasted only a few minutes. Las
Chivas scored 2 more goals back to back at minutes 17 and 19 with the efforts
of Marco Fabian and Erick Torres, both, apparently due to errors caused by the
Americanista goalie, Armando Navarrete. It was an intense game with many
errors that could have caused a different score for Las Aguilas.
With this loss, not only do Las Chivas take the lead in the score board of
Apertura 2011, but Las Aguilas are practically out of the entire competition.
All that is left now is to see what Manager Tena and the rest of the team
has to say in the next week about this game, future games, and what they have
planned to make the team better.
