Paco Alcacer, Valencia’s brightest young talent has renewed
his contract with Los Che until 2016.
Alcacer, who many consider the next David Villa, has already had a
stellar career, scoring seven goals in 11 matches for Valencia Mestalla (Valencia’s
“B” team) in Spain’s Third Division.
His scoring record does not stop their; he found the back of the net an
astounding 28 times in 26 games last season.
He also scored four times in seven matches for Spain’s U-19
squad. Two of those goals came in
the 3-2 victory in the U-19 European Championship in stoppage time against the
Czech Republic.
All these accomplishments came at the young age of 17. Alcacer is now 18 and will be looking forward to continuing his development with Valencia Mestalla. He will most definitely look to get some chances with the first team as well.
Valencia clearly wanted to get this renewal sealed as
quickly as possible, considering what happened with Isco Alarcon, who signed
for Malaga instead of renewing his contract over the summer. Isco, too, was seen as a bright star for
the future, but the Malaga native made the move back to his local club after
not receiving a contract from Valencia.
The club only offered a contract when it appeared as though Malaga was
on the scent of Isco, but by then it was too late. With clubs lining up around the corner for Alcacer, Valencia
was sure to put a lock on the young prodigy.
Alcacer, a Torrent (a suburb of Valencia) homebody, had no interest
in moving away from Valencia, but there were worries that he would leave to
pursue first team football.
Valencia put these worries to rest and Valencianistas can now look forward
to watching Paco grow with his hometown club, hopefully into the great striker
he is touted to be.
