With a comeback win on Sunday against Sunderland,
Arsenal seemed to have nothing left in the tank on Wednesday in San Siro,
against A.C. Milan as they fell to the Italian club 4-0. The English club went
into the match knowing it would be a tough game, but no one could have guessed
they’d go down in the manner they did. With an injury stricken roster, Arsene
Wenger’s club couldn’t find their rhythm this night and were dominated on both
ends of the field.
Milan’s
Kevin Prince Boateng drew first blood with only 15 minutes gone. Brazilian teammate Robinho followed
Boateng’s example and netted two goals coming in the 38th and 49th
minutes. As if three unanswered goals weren’t enough, Swedish striker Zlatan
Ibrahimovic drove home a penalty in the 79th minute to put a
definite victory in favor of A.C. Milan.
Thierry Henry gave his final performance on loan with Arsenal as a
substitute in the 46th minute.
He starts his 2012 MLS run with New York Red Bulls after today’s match. Wenger’s club will face A.C. Milan back
home in London on March 6 in a must-win situation if they want to see the
quarter finals of The Champions League.
