Getafe 0 - 1 (17' Sergio Ramos) Real Madrid
Los Blancos played
an away match against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, where they sought
to defend their seven-point lead in the tables. A win would be their eighth consecutive victory on the road
within La Liga, but this win would not be an easy one. While Getafe ranks 9th in
the tables, they have only lost at home once
this season, managing to defeat giants such as FC Barcelona and Atlético
Madrid.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed a wonderful chance of scoring at
the 10', heading a cross from Mesut Özil, only for it to go a bit too
high. The Portuguese international
then tries again at the 11, but was caught offside. It was Sergio Ramos who opened up the scoring at the 17',
with a header to the top right corner, Özil again at the assist with a cross
following a corner. Speaking of
repetitive action, both teams seemed to forget there was such a thing as being
offside – RM's Karim Benzema being the worst offender. At least the linesmen had something to
do? While los Blancos led in ball possession and goals in the 1st
half, Getafe led in yellow cards accumulated, 4 to be exact... 4 to RM's 0.
The 2nd half was relatively calm in comparison to the first. Although, Getafe did continue in the fashion of collecting yellows like Pokémon cards... Getafe stayed back for the most part and did not change their game, los Blancos controlling the match without much effort – special kudos to Özil and Kaká who worked magic in the midfield. It was only after José Callejón and Gonzalo Higuaín came on the pitch for Kaká and Benzema, respectively, that the locals began switch up the game plan and attack more. Still, Iker Casillas was relatively left with nothing to do throughout the remaining time, Getafe lacking danger in their attacks.
In other news, Real Madrid remains the only side in the 1st
Division to score in all of its home games of the La Liga campaign. ¡Felicidades,
señores! Furthermore, Sergio
Ramos has met his personal best, tallying four strikes this year – 3 goals in
La Liga, 1 in Champions League. No
mid-week match again this week for los
Blancos. They face Levante
next at the Bernabéu, Sunday, February 12th.

Oh BENZ. Thinking of the linesmen. HOW THOUGHTFUL. Cut it the hell out. And it didn't rain yellows for Sergio FOR ONCE.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else was bound to make it rain sometime. It just had to be by the Burger King boys... I kept thinking Whopper Whopper Whopper whenever I saw them... sooo the full 90.
