America Plays to Disappointing Tie

This weekend America faced off against Tijuana, better known as Xolos (Cholos).  We all knew this game was going to be a bit difficult for Las Aguilas, but we didn’t expect it to be this difficult.  At minute six a Xolos  striker Jose Sand was kicked out of the game after a foul against Oswaldo Vizcarrondo.  With one man down, Xolos kicked it into high gear, making it almost impossible for America to get near the goal.
Even with one player short, Xolos managed to bring the heat— barely missing a goal at minute 38.  America wasn’t far behind; Raul Muñoz went in for a great goal, but missed at minute 52.  It wasn’t until 10 minutes later that Las Aguilas finally made it known that they had one player more on the field.  El Rolfi Montenegro initiated the play by bouncing the ball to Christian Benitez who served the ball on a silver platter to Raul Jimenez, who put America ahead on the score board with 1-0.

Celebration was short lived, however.  Xolos player Duvier Riascos made a header only a minute after Jimenez’s goal.  Las Aguilas had another break at minute 72 when another player from Xolos was expelled from the game.  Egidio Arevalo Rios was sent packing after a foul against Paul Nicolas Aguilar.  Remember, this leaves Xolos with 2 players short for the rest of the game!

Although America had a two player advantage, the team failed to demonstrate it ending the game with a 1-1 tie.  Now, what does this say about the team?  Speaking as a fan, it’s disappointing to see that it was unable to do more against Xolos with a two player advantage!  Experts say the same.  According to news released this early Sunday morning, they say that El Piojo Herrera should be worried.  Why you may ask?   How can a team that calls themselves worthy of the title do so little against a team who for most of the game had only 10 players on the field?  El Piojo hasn’t made any comments on the game, but as soon as he does, I will let you all know!  ‘Till then!
