With Luis Fabiano out of Sunday's
Paulista match between Sao Paulo and Santos, Santos' mohawked superstar Neymar
has focused his attention on his international teammate Lucas.
Neymar and Santos have had a strong
season, with a 2-0 defeat of Mogi Mirim this weekend to secure a spot in the
Paulista semifinals. Luis Fabiano helped the Tricolor win their spot in the
semifinal clash with a brace in the team's 4-1 thrashing of Bragantino. The
ex-Sevilla man picked up a yellow card in the match, leaving him suspended as
Sao Paulo take on Santos, the current Paulista champions.
Neymar spoke to Globoesporte today,
admitting that Fabiano would make things difficult, forgetting about the striker's
suspension for a moment, saying: "We need to pay close attention to Luis
Fabiano, who is a great scorer and also to Lucas, a very talented
superstar." He corrected himself, further praising Lucas: "Luis
Fabiano will in fact not be able to play but he will be replaced, and if we let
him, Lucas will kill the game off."
Neymar and Lucas were undoubtedly the
stars of the South American U20 championship last year, where they scored 9 and
4 goals respectively to win the tournament for Brazil.
Lucas may cause enough danger to worry
Santos, who are looking to win their third straight state title on Sunday.
