Tottenham Losing Steam as Norwich Steals Victory

Norwich 2-1 Tottenham
Pilkington 13' Defoe 33'
Bennett 66'

This Easter Monday worked no miracles for the Spurs against Norwich City as they left White Hart Lane defeated 1-2. After another loss for Harry and his boys, things seem a bit more personal. Ever since his acquittal on tax charges it seems like everything has fallen downhill for the Spurs and frankly it’s becoming insufferable. Finishing top four in the League is looking more and more distant if Spurs cannot beat Norwich or Stoke at home. After a great run of success, many fans believe it’s time for Redknapp to pack his bags and leave. Too many points have been dropped on their part through the fault of poor strategy and defense. This loss could possibly make the FA think twice as to whether Redknapp is still the right man for the job as England's manager, and without his loyal fans to back him up anymore he's looking pretty lonely out there in the open.

It goes without saying that Norwich deserved the win however after seeing the Spurs play a very dull match.

Redknapp started off the match with five changes made to the side which included Jake Livermore coming in for midfielder Scott Parker who is out due to hamstring injury. Ledley King, Aaron Lennon, Louis Saha and Jermain Defoe also saw starts. This drastic lineup change was risky and bold move on Redknapp's behalf.

Such start-up failed in the beginning when 13 minutes into the game and already the Canaries had the lead when Anthony Pilkington scored a nicely executed goal no thanks to horrible defense played on our part. Unfortunately for them, referee Michael Oliver denied a penalty for the visitors in the 32nd minute when striker Grant Holt and Spurs defender Ledley King got into a scuffle that resulted in Holt bundled on the floor. To add to the fury, Tottenham was able level the scores with a decent goal driven home by Jermain Defoe after Livermore set him up.

Rednapp continued to make changes during the start of the second half when he exchanged Saha for Emmanuel Adebayor. Benoit Assou-Ekotto came closest to scoring when he blitzed through the field only to be denied by the fantastic efforts of John Ruddy. Despite the good efforts from other players, Tottenham still lacked solid presence from Scott Parker.

Norwich had no luck when it came to penalty appeals. Ref Oliver dismissed yet another plea when Adebayor pushed Aaron Wilbraham to the ground rather maliciously. They did not need the penalties, however. In the 66th minute, Norwich found the back of the net when winger Elliott Bennett drove down the right end and hammered a wonderful swerving finish from 25 yards.

It’s no doubt Norwich played a very crucial role for Tottenham in their Premiere League endeavor as they stole the three points Spurs needed to get ahead of Arsenal in the table.

I believe Monday's game was a wake-up call for the Spurs telling them it's time to move on from Redknapp. The team needs long-term stability that will bring success. The Spurs have a lot of potential
but sticking with Harry will not do them any good. The quicker he leaves and the quicker replacements for Modric and Bale are found, the better.

At this point Tottenham needs a manager that can handle the big picture—a manager that can not only have the ability to change tactics and strategies promptly, but also a manger who can provide the
club with long-term stability. The times have called for a change, the question is, are they ready?
