America's Preseason News

Hey everyone!  I hope to find you all well!  Not much has happened with the team since the last time I wrote, but there are some news.  For example, some new dates for games, some injuries, and some more news for trying to get new players on the team.  Just goes to show you that El Piojo is trying to make El America into a better team for the upcoming season.

America is set to play a friendly game against Pachuca on July 7th.  The game is set in the United States; Chattanooga, Tennessee to be exact.  It’s just one of the many friendly games that Pachuca has scheduled before entering the next tournament.

One of the biggest news this week was that of America offering 5 million dollars for a Brazilian player.  YES, 5 million!  Who is this player you may ask?  Jorge Valdivia, player for Palmeiras.  The player suffered an express kidnapping recently, and voiced his wish to move from the country to be safer.  According to a newspaper, “La Tercera,” the Mexican team sees Valdivia as “a great addition to the team for the upcoming Apertura ‘Azteca,’ which begins on July 20th.”

There are two problem with getting Valdivia.  Another team also wants him, Emiratos Arabes, who is offering about 7.5 million dollars.  It is all still uncertain if the offer is true, since neither team, Palmeiras of Emirato Arabes gave a statement to the press.  The other issue is that Valdivia is earning about 4.8 million a year, and America players make about 2.5 a year.  We will see if Valdivia chooses to become part of Las Aguilas, is his safety more important than his pay?

In other news, some bad ones that is, Christian Bermudez was unable to continue with the team for the preseason.  The reason that Bermudez had to return to Mexico, as the rest of the team remained in Cancun, was that he somehow got Hepatitis A. We hope that his recovery is quick!

I end this article with a personal message, I know that my articles have been sparse, but that is due to the fact that the team hasn’t had games that I can write about.  Once the new tournament begins, I will write as I always did! Until next time!
