America Falls to Cruz Azul

America- 1 (Benitez 23')
Cruz Azul- 2 (Pavone 27', 34')

Club America continued its American tour with a match against Cruz Azul in  Dallas, Texas.  Despite being a friendly, Cruz Azul brought their A-game.  Cruz Azul's Mariano Pavone  earned the game's player of the match, scoring both goals for his side.  Christian Benitez, once again being America’s favorite, scored for Las Aguilas.

America took control of the ball and the game, by scoring at minute 23.  With the help of Jose Maria Cardenas, el Chucho was able to open the scoreboard, giving Las Aguilas the lead.  Four minutes later, Pavone responded with a goal of his own for Cruz Azul.  Las Aguilas had control of the ball for most of the game and had more  opportunities to score and keep ahead.  To their disappointment, Pavone struck again at minute 34.

The game ended with Cruz Azul playing only to defend themselves from a possible tie.  Both coaches used the second half of the game to experiment on which players worked best together.  There hasn’t been a press release on what El Piojo or any of the players for that matter, had to say about the game.  But, as always, I will keep an eye, and ear, out for any comments about the game.  I bid farewell and will soon write about the team’s next game!
