Mexico wins against Costa Rica

-->

Hello everyone!  I know...it has been a long time since I have last put up an article.  My sincerest apologies, I have been very busy with work and school.  I hope that you can understand.  To begin with this article, I will inform that, at this moment, the national teams are competing for a spot in the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.  Mexico welcomed Costa Rica this week at the Azteca Stadium.

Both teams fought evenly for a chance to score during the first half of the match.  Mexico was keener in trying to score, leaving the Costa Rican goalie to stretch as far as he could to block the ball as it plummeted his way.  Andres Guardado tried an amazing play as he slammed the ball from midfield!  The ball barely missed the goal as it soared just over the goalies hand.  The first half ended with a 0-0 tie.

Second half began with a bit of an aggressive attitude.  Yellow cards were given out like candy as fouls were called for pushes.  Finally at minute 60, Javier "El Chicharito" Hernandez scored for the Mexican team.  Jorge Torres Nilo initiated the play, passing the ball to Chicharito, who headed the ball straight to the back of the net.  Fans cheered as the team congratulated the young athlete.  The final score was 1-0, with Mexico heading up in the scoreboard towards the World Cup.

With this victory, Mexico is Number 1 in CONCACAF 2014 Group B.  Mexico will play Guyana next, but the date and match have yet to be confirmed.  With this, I bid farewell and until next time!
