Real Madrid 4-1 Sevilla
18' Benzema, 26', 46',
59' Cristiano – 87' Manu del Moral
Hola, Madridistas! Real Madrid played against
Sevilla to a 4-1 victory at home.
Cristiano Ronaldo led his team to victory, scoring a hattrick, and
perhaps sending his former club, Manchester United, a message of what to expect
in their upcoming UCL clash. The
28-year-old earned his 20th – yes, you read that right – hattrick
with los Blancos tonight in addition
to assisting Karim Benzema, who scored his 50th Liga goal at the 18'
minute mark.
While Madrid may have
doubled their lead in the first half, it certainly was not an inspiring start
for either side. The second half
certainly provided spectators with more than enough entertainment. There, we saw Cristiano sink in two more to
the back of net – to which he was met with a standing ovation – the expulsion
of Pipita Higuain and Hedwiges Maduro, and Sevilla saving face with a goal of
their own at the 87'.
It is with hope that our
men perform as well as tonight – if not better – up against Manchester United
this Wednesday, February 13th.
The first leg of the UCL will be held at the Santiago Bernabéu, which
certainly adds to the pressure of doing well. Their next La Liga match will be
Sunday, February 17th at home against Rayo Vallecano. Until then, keep calm and ¡Hala Madrid!
