Americanistas both in Mexico and in the United States, finally celebrated a victory this weekend!  Las Aguilas Del America played against Monterrey in what is coming down to be the final games before the end of the tournament.  Las Aguilas haven’t been doing very well, and were in 16th place out of 18 teams.  Fans and players alike prayed for the best as the game began.

Jose Martinez started the scoring off as he netted one for Las Aguilas in the 40th minute, which ended up as the only goal in the first half.  In the 68th minute, after some skillful footwork, Oscar Rojas scored an impressive goal off a deflection for Las Aguilas.   The third goal was scored by Aquivaldo Mosquera after a Daniel Montenegro corner kick for Las Aguilas.  The game closed out with a result of 3-0, in favor of Las Aguilas Del America.

This game still brings hope that Club America can still have a shot at making it into La Liguilla.  Many were upset over Tena leaving a number of the older, more experienced players on the bench during such an important game.  This seems irrelevant; the team won didn’t they?!  Tena made a statement earlier today, explaining that he put younger players in to make a statement proving that younger players can make a difference.   He wanted to prove that they are putting as much effort into the team as the older players.  Also, he said some of the older players are recuperating from injuries sustained during other games.

Now, get ready for El Clasico against Las Chivas Del Guadalajara, being held next Sunday. Who will win?   We'll just have to watch, won't we?
