Alianza Lima wins the Clausura in Peru, begins Play-Offs to Determine Champion

Alianza Lima ended their Clausura season in Peru with a win over Sport Boys in Matute (the Alianza stadium). The 3-0 win secured a first place finish for Los Intimos and forced a play-off match against Juan Aurich, the Apertura champions. To determine the league champion in Peru, a team must win both the Apertura and Clausura championships. If no one team can win both, the winners of each respective championship must play-off in a two legged tie elimination match to determine the winner. The first leg of the match will be played in Juan Aurich’s home city of Chiclayo on Thursday and the second leg in Lima on Sunday. Peruvians are looking forward to an excellent match against one of Peru’s footballing giants and young upstarts that have been making waves all over South American leagues for the last few years.
