This past December, the Chicago Fire held their annual Open Tryouts.  Out of the 160 Fire-hopefuls who vied for a spot on the roster, Peruvian-born Fabrizio Pittaluga made the cut.  This 22 year old Miami, Florida based midfielder travelled over 1,300 miles for the Fire’s tryouts and will join them January 20 for preseason training camp.

Pittaluga beat out many top-notch players over that two day tryout session.  Fire head coach Frank Koplas said, “Over that time, Fabrizio’s talent and skill came through. We know that certain players that take part in this process have the potential to make a roster and we’re excited to have Fabrizio join the first team during training camp later this month.”

Fabrizio, who has had training stints with U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s Miami Kendall FC, Serie A’s Cagliari Calcio, Peruvian clubs Sport Boys Association, and Universidad Cesarvallejo, said, “The dream of playing – the possibility of earning a contract and getting to do it with a team in the country I’ve grown up in— it’s a very surreal feeling and I’m really looking forward to the first day.”
Here’s to you, Fabrizio.  Best of luck with the Chicago Fire.
