Tomorrow, Germany takes
on Italy for the battle to advance to the final match in Kyiv. Germany has had
a very strong Euro 2012 run thus far and will be a force to reckon with. Italy
though, is coming off a win over England in a penalty kick shootout.
The Italians know it will
be a challenge to beat Germany, but they are prepared to take on that
challenge. Italian coach, Cesare Prandelli, said, “We're coming up against a
side which I believe is stronger. It's going to be a more open game, a terrific
game, and I don't think we should change our approach” Italy also have on their
side, the fact that they haven't lost a competitive game to Germany.
Germany hasn't lost a
match yet this tournament and, of course, they would like to keep it that way
tomorrow. Though complaining of a sore ankle, German midfielder Bastian
Schweinsteiger was declared fit to play. Schweinsteiger comments on the
upcoming match, "I think we have got a lot of quality and are tactically
strong, physically strong. I am very positive about the semi-final. For me,
I've played a lot of games, but it's still a highlight in a long season."
Though Germany is the
favorite to win, it's not forgotten that it was just assumed that France would
easily beat Sweden, and it was Sweden who ended up walking away with the 2-0
win. There hasn't been any large upsets in this tournament yet either. The
winner of this match will face the winner of todays match between Spain and
Portugal in the Euro 2012 final match.
