El Tri Win Gold

The summer Olympics came to an end this morning as Mexico and Brazil fought for the gold medal in a historic game.  As this was Mexico's first time going into the finals, it was no surprise that experts believed Brazil had the upper hand going into the game.  That, and the fact that the Brazilian team was one of the youngest teams in the league.  Also, Giovanni Dos Santos did not play due to an injury that occurred during the last game against Japan.

Knowing that this game held a lot at stake, Mexico did not disappoint!  Thirty seconds into the match, Oribe Peralta scored, bringing the stadium to their feet!  Not only was it an amazing one, but Peralta scored the quickest goal in the Olympic competition!  The play began with a poor pass to Brazil's Alex Sandro.  The ball fell to Javier Aquino, who passed it to Peralta.  With a gold medal on the line, both teams fought for their lives, for their nations.

Brazil did not play up to expectations in the first half.  At the start of the second half, Mexico did as expected and fought to keep control of the ball.  At the 75th minute, 15 minutes left on the clock, Peralta scored for a second time, heading the ball straight into the back of net.

With a 2-1 victory, Mexico wins Olympic gold for the first time in history of the sport.  The team now celebrates, as do all the fans!  With the Olympic games drawn to a close, Mexico now prepares for a game against the United States on Wednesday!  Till then!
