LA Galaxy 1 – 5 Real
Madrid
23' David Lopes – 2'
Higuaín, 11' Di María, 36' Callejón, 49' Morata, 84' Jese
The Spanish giants have
done it again, winning their fourth match against LA Galaxy, with a 5-1
victory. While Real Madrid were pinned
as the favorites, no one expected Galaxy to give as much trouble as they did.
Gonzalo
"Pipita" Higuain got things started with a bang, sinking the first
goal of evening in the second minute.
Teammate Ángel di María set the stage up when he cut inside the right
and made a pass into the box. All Pipita
had to do to see the ball in the back of net was a simple touch. No one could
deny that los Blancos came to the
City of Angels ready to deliver a show of a lifetime.
It would seem that the
Argentines had a knack in scoring golazos
that evening. Not ten minutes later,
Di María claimed a goal of his own, sending the ball towards Saunders's near
post. The Galaxy GK was not
pleased. Speaking of goalkeepers, Iker
Casillas did well to deflect former teammate David Beckham's free kick further
along the half.
Galaxy would have the
next goal at the 23' mark, when Omar Gonzalez headed a ball across the face of
goal, David Lopes finishing it off.
Perhaps Madrid's two goals were exactly what the American galácticos needed to wake up. The LA-based team began to give José
Mourinho's men some trouble, making themselves frequent fixtures in front of
Casillas's box. The man in orange was
visibly perturbed with the rest of his defensive line. As were the rest of us, San Iker, as were the rest of us...
José Callejón scored at
the 36' mark, upping the goal cushion back to two. At his assist was Pipita, who made Swiss
cheese of the Galaxy backline. Neither
team would score the remainder of the half.
Coming back from the
half, both teams made wholesale changes in their lineups. No starters were left on pitch. Within minutes, Esteban "Pirata"
Granero executed an incredible pass to RM Castilla's Álvaro Morata.
Minutes passed and both
teams seemed eager of scoring. It would
be Real Madrid with the final say at the 84' mark. Karim Benzema had a beautiful run across
pitch, passing to German wunderkind
Mesut Özil, who then cut the ball back to Jese Rodríguez, who finished it all
off.
This was certainly a game
for spectators – full of excitement, excellent football, and amazing
players. Real Madrid faces Santos Laguna
up next in Las Vegas, Sunday, August 5th. Until then, ¡Hala Madrid!
