Los Blancos certainly gave Madridistas something to celebrate
about their last match against Mallorca this past Sunday. Real Madrid left the Iberostar with a clean
sheet and reduced their gap to bitter rivals FC Barcelona to eight points. The men certainly got back into the groove of
things with a comfortable 5-0 victory after a disappointing 2-1 loss to
Dortumund in the Champions League days beforehand.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Pipita Higuaín would each bag a
brace, while José Callejón – who had come in for Ángel di María – would score Madrid's
final for the evening. Pipita opened the
score sheet at the 8' minute mark, who found himself inside the Mallorca
penalty area following a pass from Di María.
1-0 to Real Madrid! Cristiano
would double RM's lead at the 22' minute mark, scoring his 17th goal
in all competitions this season, with a low shot inside the left-hand post.
The second half would prove just as fruitful for los Blancos with three more goals. Pipita scored his second of evening at the 70'
minute mark, following a polished pass from Cristiano. Madrid now led by 3-0. However, it would not remain 3-0 for too
long. Cristiano scored his second of
evening minutes later at the 73' mark.
4-0 to Madrid!
Manager José Mourinho brought on Callejón as a fresh
pair of legs and it certainly added to Madrid's magic that evening. The Madrid man would score Madrid's fifth of
evening in the first minute of stoppage time, tapping one in from close range
after Mesut Özil's shot was deflected.
Real Madrid play Alcoyano next, Wednesday October 31st
at the El Collao for the Copa del Rey. Los Blancos will play Zaragoza in their
next La Liga match at the Bernabeu Saturday, November 3rd. Until then, ¡Hala Madrid!
