Congratulations are in order for Iker Casillas who
has played his 645th game with los
Blancos this past weekend at the Benito Villamarín. He is the third player with the most official
games played for Real Madrid, positioning himself behind Raúl and Manolo Sanchís,
who have 741 and 709 caps, respectively.
Casillas has tallied 470 matches within La Liga,
holding on to third behind Raul (550) and Sanchís (523). Within the Champions League, the goalkeeper
holds second place with 129 matches played.
Raúl currently sits in first with 132 to his name. The possibility of our current captain
surpassing our former captain's caps within the European competition this
season is likely, given the club advances past the Group of Death. The remainder of his 645 caps is split among
the Copa del Rey (28), Supercopa (11), European Super Cup (2), Intercontinental
Cup (2), and Club World Cup (3).
Iker Casillas has played 14 seasons at the highest
level for Real Madrid, winning 15 titles with the club. Very, very impressive. In addition to being the third GK with the
most games played in the history of La Liga, he holds an impressive career
percentage of 71.7% victories having won 403 games, drawn 115 and lost 126.
