Messi a Candidate for Time Magazine's "Person of the Year Award"

Lionel Messi has won every individual award in world football.  To name a few, Messi has won El Pichichi, The Golden Boot, Balon D'or, European Player of the Year, and FIFA World Player of the Year.  He is arguably the best player in the world with Cristiano Ronaldo close behind him.  Even at the club level he has won everything with Barcelona.  This includes that amazing ‘08/’09 season where Barça won every competition in which they competed, completing an unprecedented sextuple.  The only thing Messi has yet to win is greatest trophy of them all, the FIFA World Cup.
Messi is now featured on a prestigious list for another award.  However, this is no football award; it is Time magazine's Person of the Year Award.  Along with 32 people including the likes of Steve Jobs, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, Lionel Messi is in the running for the prestigious Time magazine award. The writers and editors of Time recognize what Lionel has done in world football for both club and country.
Time magazine says, "Messi has taken the most popular sport in the world to a new commercial level of success, as shown by the fact that so many North American children go to school in a Barça shirt." I truly believe this award will mean more than all of the individual awards he has gotten so far.
