Club
America has new president. Former America,
Guadalajara, Necaxa, and Mexican National Team star Ricardo Peláez became the
new president for the team. It was announced earlier this week during a
conference that he would be in charge from now on. He announced that his
goal would be to make this team a strong one. He stated he will have one-on-one conversations with each
player on the squad to find out who was dedicated to stay. He blatantly stated, “Work and humility
are the words that will set our path.”
In
other news, Alfredo Tena is no longer coach and Luis Roberto Alves is no longer
the Vice President of Club America. Remember, Tena had only been the
coach for a couple of months, leading the team during the last games of
Apertura 2011. I still haven’t heard of a solid reason as to why Tena is
gone, but one can only imagine it is due to the lack of wins during the
tournament. In regards to Alves, Peláez stated that management wanted to
start anew with a “clean slate.”
What in
the world is going on with this team?! The search is on for a coach that
can manage to get this team back to the position it’s supposed to be in.
Hopefully, it won’t take too long; this coming January holds a crucial
match. Let’s have faith that good
things will come of this!
