Mexico defeats Switzerland: Off to the Knockout Rounds

Mexico is currently on top form, and moved on to play Switzerland.  Key playmaker, Giovanni Dos Santos scored both winning goals for El Tri during the last match at the London Olympics.  Of course, there was no surprise that Mexico’s manager, Luis Teña, picked Dos Santos as one of the eleven starters.  The Tottenham footballer did not disappoint.

The first half of the game was pretty dull, as both teams seemed to be waiting for an opportunity, rather than creating occasions to elevate the score line.  Mexico did, however, maintain possession of the ball for most of the game.  The first half of the match ended scoreless.  The second half was below average until minute 69 when Dos Santos set up a play with Oribe Peralta, who scored the one and only goal of the game.  The Swiss players turned the game around desperately in search of an opportunity for an equalizer.  Unfortunately for them, the effort of a better result was in vain.
Now, I must add that Switzerland was missing one key footballer, Michel Morganella.  Several football analysts criticized the result of the game and pointed out that the “only reason Mexico won this game was because the Swiss team did not have their strong right back.”  Morganella was expelled from the London Olympics due to inappropriate and racist tweet via social media Twitter. 101 Great Goals reports that Morganella wrote “"I want to beat up all South Koreans! Bunch of mentally handicapped retards!"
Now that Mexico has finished their last game in Group B, they move on to the quarterfinals and will play Senegal!  It’s the first time since 1996 that Mexico moves on this round!  Exciting, no?!  Again, I will keep you informed about the upcoming game against Senegal!  ‘Till next time!
